World Without US

Some folks from across the pond came up with this:

"This is the fourth of 18DoughtyStreet.com's weekly adverts. At a time of rampant anti-Americanism this ad - produced with
BritainAndAmerica.com - aims to remind the world of the great economic, technological and political benefits that the US has brought to the world."

Fact of History

I love this stuff, I just came across this post and wanted to share it with you all.

The Republic, Still Young [Peter Robinson]

Mark Steyn notes below that President Calvin Coolidge’s
son John owned the cheese factory in Plymouth Notch, the Vermont village in which Calvin Coolidge grew up, as recently as 1998. Mark’s note put me in mind of another presidential descendant with an interesting piece of property: As a reader of this Corner pointed out in an email to me yesterday, Harrison Tyler, grandson of President John Tyler, still owns and inhabits President Tyler’s Virginia home,
Sherwood Forest Plantation.

Take a moment or two to absorb that. John Tyler, our tenth chief executive, was born in 1790, when George Washington still had nine years to live, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, 36 years each. The Tyler who now lives in the family home is neither President Tyler’s great-great grandson nor his great-grandson but his grandson. In the person of Harrison Tyler, in other words, we Americans are still only a couple of generations removed from the men who founded this Republic.

Ceiling

Today, we were "up and Adam"....we got to Home pot by 8:15AM. We were in a rush so we skipped breakfast and decided to get coffee to go at Starbucks (no offense Barry, we really do love our Coffee Maker) and since we were in a rush to work at the store I decided to get a pre -made sandwich at starbucks. Well, that was my mistake. Krissy was a tad miffed that I did not want to get a sandwich that she liked, but I was steadfast for an egg salad sandwich (since it was morning time, this sandwich seemed to make the most sense)....but Krissy, the girl with the English blood in her, does not like the 2nd best condiment in the fridge (Brett can tell you what number 1 is)

Krissy finally stopped at Dunken Donuts for a bagel with cream cheese, and she had me apply the cream cheese in the car for her since Krissy was about to eat anything she could get her hands on.

We got to the store and had the ceiling to paint. Here a pic of the skills that were applied.

Krissy, being methodical.

Ahhhh, the copper paint (this pic is not a good representation, it's not nearly as gold as the pic shows)

The masterpiece.

Close-up to the ceiling, and again, it's not nearly this gold...it's more of a brown copper.

Romney 0-Eight

Went to Romney's Presidential kickoff (the non-Michigan one) tonight:

Krissy, Evelyn, and Ryan.

They played this video which I think is amazing, it's really well done.

This video this has the Reagan "Morning In America Theme" and is one of the best I have ever seen.

Also, the Pastor that is going to marry us, Kris Mineau, is on this video

UPDATE - to add to what I mentioned here earlier, I came across this article.

"If all that reads like cheap armchair psychoanalysis of the candidates and the voters, go to Mitt TV and see what I mean. I scared myself. I believe the Iraq war is a nearly criminal enterprise. I’m a social-cultural leftie who wants the government out of my bedroom and away from my body. But I was nearly mesmerized by a guy whose religion I consider akin to a cult, whose Iraq war support angers me and whose posturing against gays I find obnoxious.

So, I find it kind of appalling that I find him appealing.

Political seduction is a powerful drug."

Snow Time

Finally, winter has arrived.

The Shower

Many thanks to Brett for her hospitality and pleasant time yesterday hosting our shower. Thanks to everyone that showed up and Krissy and I really appreciate your generosity to us, it means a lot.

We had a lot of fun kicking off the festivities at 1:00, enjoyed a great meal, coors light, red wine, punch, and of course champagne. Thanks again to Brett and all of you!

Yesterday we spent most of the day painting the new store and brining in furniture (thanks to Larry, Betsy, and Brettsky for the help!)

Slowly but surely it's coming along. The Gentleman's Corner is also progressing well.

Brett is well armed with her roller.

Then, we went to the Landing in Manchester for lunch. I may just add it to the Pub Links. I know, you are saying "but it's a restaurant." The one prerequisite for a restaurant to make the Pub Links is that it has to have a separate bar in the restaurant. The Landind does, and it's a great place!

Then, for the superbowl we went to Jeff's in Winchester.

Here is a great pic of the two cousins.
